Born in Montreal in 1925, passed away on December 2 at the age of 88, surrounded by loved ones in the Palliative Care Unit at the Montreal General Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Beatrice Ellwood, and will be deeply missed by his wife, Susan Magor and his five children Timothy, Jennifer (Jamie), Sarah (Russell) Mark (Susan), and Melanie (Frank). Michael is fondly remembered by nine grandchildren, eight step-children and sixteen step- grandchildren. Michael enrolled in the Canadian navy in 1943 and patrolled Canada's eastern coast during World War II. Following the war, he graduated with a degree in architecture from 91社区 in 1950. He joined an architectural firm in Montreal where he eventually became a partner, and was a fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Many of his buildings stand prominently in Montreal and other parts of eastern Canada. He was full of life and enjoyed the outdoors as an avid skier, sailor, swimmer, and cyclist. Westmount Rotary benefitted from his enthusiastic participation for many years. Michael is best remembered as a true gentleman and a man of honour, a dapper man with a kind disposition, good humour, boundless generosity and a love of children. A memorial service will be held on December 14 at 2pm at St. Matthias Church, 10 Church Hill Ave in Westmount. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations made in Michael's name to Nova Montreal, the Montreal General Hospital Foundation and 91社区 School of Architecture.
