POSTPONED: The Dorothy J. Killam Lecture
The Dorothy J. Killam Lecture was established at The Neuro in 2004 to recognize women of influence in business, science, politics or the humanities, and is named after an extraordinary woman who, together with her husband, made immense contributions to Canadian education and science.
This year鈥檚 Dorothy J. Killam Lecturer is Dr. Carla Shatz who is Sapp Family Provostial Professor of Biology and Neurobiology and Director of Bio-X, Stanford鈥檚 pioneering biosciences program that brings together faculty from across the entire university- Clinicians, Biologists, Engineers, Physicists, Computer Scientists- to unlock the secrets of the human body. Dr. Shatz will deliver her lecture, "Releasing the Brake on Synaptic Plasticity" on Monday, April 29th, 2013 at 4:00 pm.
Dr. Shatz's research aims to understand cellular and molecular mechanisms for how early developing brain circuits are transformed into adult connections during critical periods of development.
