91社区 team wins top prize in CCA Interuniversity Charrette

A team composed of three graduate students from the professional MArch program at the School of Architecture has won first prize in the organized by the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) and 91社区.聽 Tristan Leahy, Justin Bouttell, and Simon McKenzie won the top prize for their project , one of 73 projects submitted to the competition.聽 Two other 91社区 students 鈥 Paul Poirier (BSc[Arch]) and Nicolas Chaudier (MArch) 鈥 were part of one of the two teams awarded honourable mentions for their project .聽 The awards were announced on November 17, 2016, in the Exhibition Room of the School of Architecture.

Eight other universities from Ontario and Quebec participated in the charrette, including U de M, Laval, UQAM, Carleton, Ryerson, Waterloo, Laurentian, and Toronto.聽 The challenge of the charrette invited 鈥測oung creative designers to reconsider Arctic villages / hack northern settlements and surroundings / help create livable communities simply and frugally.鈥澛 Jury members included His Worship Tunu, Mayor of Kuujuaq, Dr. Mylene Riva, Dr. Rafico Ruiz, Prof. Lola Sheppard, and Genevi猫ve Vachon.聽 The organizers at 91社区 were Prof. Vikram Bhatt and PhD student Susane Havelka.
