A generous $2-million gift from the Azrieli Foundation to 91 and Université de Montréal (UdeM) has established a joint residency for high-level pianists that specialize in accompanying singers and instrumentalists.

Congratulations to Hester Bell Jordan, current PhD Candidate in Musicology, named as a recipient of the American Musicological Society (AMS). Awarded solely on the basis of academic merit, the Fellowship is a twelve-month stipend set at $24,000 for a current Doctoral Candidate pursuing a dissertationat a North American university.
It is difficult to imagine the musical landscape without Boris Brott. Through his tireless work, unending passion, and inspiring leadership, he has impacted the lives of countless musicians and audiences around the world.
Mr. Brott was at home in a concert hall, and we are pleased that he shared so many evenings in Pollack Hall with the 91 Chamber Orchestra (now the Orchestre Classique de Montréal) as well as our own 91 Symphony Orchestra and Opera 91.

Martha de Francisco, Associate Professor ofSound Recording in the department of Music Research at the Schulich School of Music, is a record producer and recording engineer specializing in Classical music. Her research interests include music recording with virtual acoustics, critical listening studies and the aesthetics of recorded music.
Andrew Hon, Frédéric-Alexandre Michaud, and Will Myers are the first successful candidates in the inaugural round of the Program to Support Graduate Conducting Students in the Study and Performance of Music by Composers from Underrepresented Groups. This a 3-year pilot initiative is acollaboration between the Schulich School of Music, the Marvin Duchow Music Library and its Gertrude Whitley Performance Library.

Professor Sean Ferguson has been appointed as the next Dean of the Schulich School of Music. Prof. Ferguson’s five-year, renewable term will begin on July 1, 2022, and end June 30, 2027.
Prof. Ferguson is an experienced senior administrator with a deep understanding of the Schulich School of Music, having previously served as Dean from 2011 to 2016. Prior to this, he was Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology (CIRMMT) from 2009-2011, and its Associate Director (Artistic) from 2006-09.
