Learn about the different ways the 91社区 Engine Centre can support your technologically based startup ventures.
The TechAccel Program helps students jump-start and accelerate their technologically-based ideas that have business or social impact potential.听Teams develop their entrepreneurial skills through a seven-part online training platform and one-on-one business mentorship and project funding for product, process, or service development.听This program allows student participants to receive听CCR recognition听as it is an approved Enriched Educational Opportunities (EEO) program.听The听grants come out of the听Faculty of Engineering听Innovation Fund*, which is funded by charitable gifts from alumni and other community donors.
There are three types of Summer TechAccel programs available:
TechAccel Pre-Grant Phase
- Available for both graduate and undergraduate students
- No funding
- Technologically-based startup idea
- Idea stage where customer problems and needs still need validation via customer discovery
- Basic understanding of the competitive landscape
- Personalized coaching and business mentorship provided along with access to Empowered Startups online training platform

TechAccel Grants -听Undergraduate Stipend
- Exclusively for undergraduate students
- Receive a stipend of $6,000 to develop your start-up project
- Develop your start-up/project and entrepreneurial skillsets full-time for 12-16 weeks over the summer

TechAccel Grants -听Reimbursement
- Available for both graduate and undergraduate students
- Funding up to $2,500 maximum per team
- Technologically-based startup idea where there has been sufficient level of actual customer problem validation via customer discovery, in particular customer interviews
- Finding product-market fit and getting early traction
- Funding is used to reimburse project related expenses tied to technical milestones (no stipend offered)
- Projects typically last between 3-6 months (flexible depending on complexity and milestones)
- Personalized coaching and business mentorship provided by an expert in your project's industry along with access to Empowered Startups online training platform
