Sarah Moussa, BSc, RN, MDCM Candidate Class of 025

Sarah is a registered nurse and fourth-year medical student here at 91ÉçÇø, completing her Scholarship in Medical and Health Sciences Education elective at the Institute of Health Sciences Education (IHSE). Prior to medical school, Sarah was a curriculum assistant with the Canadian Alliance of Nurse Educators Using Simulations () and an academic mentor at the faculty of health sciences at the University of Ottawa. As a research assistant with the Consortium National de Formation en Santé, she focused on regulatory practices for francophone minorities and the transition into nursing practice. In medical school, her passion for education continued. She held the role of VP of Medical Education from 2022-2023. She led the independent student assessment task force for the UGME program accreditation, culminating in a 100-page report to the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools. She ran various medical education initiatives through the student society, namely the surgical immersion program, ACE Buddy Mentoring Program and Caffeinate a Resident program, amongst others. She found a passion for dermatology and primary care during her medical school journey. Sarah helped jump-start as a project lead "," a dermatology education platform with Dr. Elena Netchiporouk and the Department of Dermatology at 91ÉçÇø. She completed an elective in New Zealand with world-renowned dermatology education experts, namely the DermNet NZ founder Dr. Oakley. She now seeks to bring the quality dermoscopy teaching she received in New Zealand to other 91ÉçÇø students through her IHSE elective.

She is supervised by Dr. Carver, Associate Professor at the Institute of Health Sciences Education, and co-supervised by Dr. Elena Netchiporouk, dermatologist and Assistant Professor at the Department of Medicine and Dr. Renata Sava, clinical lecturer and family medicine physician at Saint-Mary GMF-U.
