The 2024-2025 Neuro Epilepsy Lecture Series will include eight lectures covering hot topics in basic and clinical epilepsy research. Speakers will include distinguished leaders and rising stars, with the goal of bridging basic research and clinical perspectives.

础产蝉迟谤补肠迟:听Cognitive impairments, including attention deficits are prevalent among children with epilepsy. The lecture will discuss multi-factorial causes of cognitive impairments with a focus on the role of transient effects of single interictal discharges. Novel approaches to rescue cognitive deficits through AI-informed closed loop stimulation paradigms will be discussed with a view towards improved cognitive outcomes in affected children.

George M. Ibrahim

Dr. George Ibrahim is a pediatric neurosurgeon and the Abe Bresver Chair in Functional Neurosurgery at the Hospital for Sick Children. He is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering, the Institute of Medical Sciences and the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto. He is also a Senior Scientist in the Neurosciences and Mental Health program as the SickKids Research Institute. His clinical and research interests include the surgical treatment of medically intractable epilepsy, spasticity and movement disorders in children.
