Xianguo (Jeff) Xia
Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Bioinformatics and Big Data Analytics; Associate Professor
(Cross-appointed to the Institute of Parasitology and the Department of Animal Science)
Bioinformatics and statistics for high-throughput omics data; host-parasite-gut microbiome interactions; environmental genomics and nutrigenomics, big data analytics and systems biology.
Dr. Jianguo Xia obtained his Bachelor of Medicine (5-year program) from Peking University Health Science Center, China, in 2001. He then moved to Canada in 2004 and obtained his MSc degree (research area: Immunology & Genetics) in 2006, followed by his PhD (research area: Bioinformatics & Metabolomics) in 2011, both at the University of Alberta, Canada. From 2012-2014, he did his postdoctoral training (research area: Next-generation sequencing & Systems biology) at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He joined 91社区 as an Associate Professor 2015. His lab focuses on leveraging bioinformatics, statistics and large data to study the effects of biological (i.e. gut microbiota and helminths), environmental and nutritional factors on health and disease.
