Research Interests
Host-parasite-gut microbiota interactions, bioinformatics, metabolomics, metagenomics, network and systems biology
Research Orientations
- The effects of parasitic worms (helminths) on host immune system. We currently focus on studying the interactions of intestinal parasites and their corresponding hosts using a combination of next-generation sequencing, metabolomics, proteomics and immunological techniques. Future efforts will involve metabolic network reconstruction and modeling to obtain mechanistic understanding of host-parasite interactions. 聽
- Gut health in human and animals. This program aims to understand the dynamics of gut microbiota under different pathophysiological conditions, food intake and antibiotics, using both marker gene and shotgun sequencing strategies.
- Bioinformatics and systems biology. Developing next-generation bioinformatics tools to address the 鈥渂ig data鈥 challenge in life sciences. Particular areas of interest include: applied statistics and machine learning algorithms, novel data visualization techniques, web-based technologies and databases.
