Welcome Gracen Brilmyer
SIS is very excited to welcome Gracen Brilmyer as Associate Professor (Special Category) starting August 1, 2020
Gracen Brilmyer is completing their PhD from the Department of Information Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Their research lies at the intersection of archival studies, disability studies, and the history of science, where they address coloniality, affect, and disability, primarily within natural history archives. Their work has been published in Archival Science and Archivaria, and various other journals. They have also published a poster, “Dismantling White Supremacy in Archives,” with Michelle Caswell in The Library Quarterly. They have a background working with biological collections in natural history museums and hold a Master of Information Management and Systems from University of California Berkeley.
Research interests: Archival studies, critical disability studies, history of science with particular focus on: Natural history museum archives; Disabled archival users; and Archival accessibility. Website:
