Dr. Catherine Hankins, Professor at the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health and co-chair of Canada's COVID-19 Immunity Task Force is quoted in the Montreal Gazette.
…“You can see what happens if (a variant) gets into an area, then that’s what spreads,” said Dr. Catherine Hankins, a professor of public and population health at 91ÉçÇř. “So Abitibi-TĂ©miscamingue doesn’t have B.1.1.7., it’s got B.1.351.” It would appear that Abitibi-TĂ©miscamingue is not only the B.1.351 hot spot in Quebec, but perhaps in all of Canada as well as the United States. Ontario is the second province with the greatest number of confirmed cases of B.1.351 (47), followed by British Columbia (41).
