Sociologie (Arts) : Focuses on the mechanisms by which educational institutions foster and maintain equalities and inequalities around the world, considers the kinds of inequalities which exist in our society, their bases and sources, and analyzes educational practices and structures related to the production and maintenance of equalities and inequalities. Considers the consequences of educational opportunity of recent reform proposals, and the relation of education to occupational opportunities. Engages with multidisciplinary theories of social stratification and examines empirical and theoretical studies from both low-and high-income societies.
