Preparation for the first visit:
The Hereditary Gynaecologic Surveillance Clinic鈥檚 services are intended to provide clinical and emotional support to women who have been identified as being at a higher risk of developing gynaecologic cancers. Once you have been contacted by the Clinical Care Coordinator and an appointment has been scheduled for the first visit, you do not have to do anything to prepare for it. However, please remember to bring with you your Jewish General Hospital card and your Medicare card.
The first visit:
On the first visit, the doctor will go over your medical and family history. Many of the topics of discussion and options presented to you are highly personalized. You are welcome and encouraged to ask questions. You might be requested to take other medical tests, such as a blood test, an ultrasound, and so forth, depending on your medical needs and preferences.
After the first visit:
There is a possibility that you might need to schedule more appointments for the future. You will find more information on this subject in the section for Follow-up.
Timeline:
Most patients either have one visit per year or two visits per year. You will find more information on this subject in the section for Follow-up.
