Shaking the Fondations

Conference supported by CIRM and organized by the (MCAF) to highlight the 10th anniversary of MCAF. This conference had the objective of bringing together researchers interested in the comic arts and their creators for discussions and presentations of research and field work on the theme of Shaking the Foundations. Mario Beaulac, professor in comic arts at the at Université du Québec en Outaouais, oversaw the event as scientific director.

The conference-experiences organized by CIRM, in partnership with various organizations in the metropolis, are an opportunity to discover unique places through the people who inhabit hem. The audience is thus invited to meet and discuss with various local actors, researchers, and citizens who contribute in one way or another to the development of these living environments. The conference-experiences are presented in English or French, open to all, and presented two or three times a year depending on the current program.

As part of the consultation on the future of Griffintown undertaken by the Office de consultation publique de Montréal (), CIRM organized a charrette open to university students in urban planning and urban studies in Montréal. The objective of this charrette was to make an assessment of the development of Griffintown according to the vision of the Programme particulier d'urbanisme (PPU) and to propose different avenues for the planning of the public domain to realize this vision.

Superdiversity in Canadian Cities

Lecture by Steven Vertovec and Daniel Hiebert, with contributions from Sandeep Agrawal (Edmonton), Bronwyn Bragg (Calgary) and Annick Germain (CIRM / INRS). Today's urban populations in Canada present changing combinations of nationalities, ethnic origins, languages, religions, ages, genders, legal status, classes and human capital. These changing combinations of demographic characteristics create conditions of "superdiversity," a concept that emphasizes that current patterns of diversity are substantially replacing those that once prevailed.
