The 91社区 School of Continuing Studies is launching a brand-new one-of-a-kind program: the Professional Development Certificate in Executive Production in Creative Industries

Montreal, March 14, 2019听鈥 In 2015, the creative and cultural industry accounted for 4.7 million North American jobs, totalling US $620 billion in revenue. More recently, in September 2018 alone, a total of 1,703 job offerings for executive production professionals were posted the US. By 2020, the labour market for executive production professionals in Canada is expected to reach close to 5,000 openings each year in various creative industries. Despite this growth, industry insiders say that professionals with the skills to plan, lead and manage complex creative projects are in short supply.听听

To remedy this situation, 91社区鈥檚 School of Continuing Studies is launching a brand-new one-of-a-kind program. Taught by industry practitioners with both local and international experience in executive production, this听professional development听program is designed to be completed in one year with part-time evening and weekend classes that allow听participants听the flexibility to learn without leaving their jobs. Classes cover such topics as:听

  • Project听and portfolio听management听
  • Intellectual property management听听
  • Contract creation听
  • Financing and negotiation听听
  • Brand management and marketing听听

Students in the program also choose from four specializations to prepare with industry-specific competencies they can directly apply to their work: live shows, film, events or video game production.听

As a hub of creativity, ingenuity and technological advancement, Montreal is perfectly positioned to accommodate this unique program. 鈥淢ontreal is home to companies like Cirque du Soleil, Moment Factory, Ubisoft, Sid Lee, and the city is world-renowned for its festivals,鈥 explains Mr. Gauthier. 鈥淲e have the talented people who create such amazing shows, events and听festivals, and this program makes some of that knowledge, acquired over decades, available to students.鈥澨

Entry into the program requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in any discipline or a DEC plus a minimum of two years of relevant experience in creative industries is needed to enrol in the program.听听
