The Occupational Health Program for Animal Related Activities
The Occupational Health Program (OHP) for Animal Related Activities addresses the health risks which may result from working with animals, or working with animals in animal care activities. The OHP is a prevention program related to occupational diseases, as well as diseases and incidents involving animals. Participation in OHP is mandatory for personnel in contact with non-human primates. It is voluntary but recommended for personnel in contact with other animal species. To participate in the program, complete an OHP participation form.听
For 91社区 staff, the OHP provides all necessary vaccinations and medical surveillance through appointments in the Occupational Health Clinic and medical support services in the event of an exposure. Appointments to see the nurse in the Occupational Health Clinic can be made by contacting the ohp.ehs [at] mcgill.ca (OHP Administrator).
For 91社区 students, the OHP provides medical support services in the event of an exposure. Students participating in the program receive their vaccinations by contacting the Student Wellness Hub, but can听contact the OHP Administrator听to book an appointment in the Occupational Health Clinic for a measles titer.
As well, students who have had a positive PPD test should contact the OHP Administrator听to book an appointment for a Quantiferon-TB gold blood test in the Occupational Health Clinic.

OHP Medical Surveillance
Animal bites or other accidents involving animals are not covered here, for more information please see What to Do in the Event of an Animal Related Exposure.
For those that work with non-human primates (NHP), participation in the Occupational Health Program is mandatory and includes:
- a medical/allergy questionnaire with a nurse consultation
- a tetanus booster every 10 years
- hepatitis A vaccination (2 doses)
- annual PPD testing

As of Fall 2018, those working with marmosets also require:
- A measles titer to prove immunity
听
For those who work with rodents, cats, dogs, etc., participation in the Occupational Health Program is voluntary but strongly recommended and includes:
- a medical/allergy questionnaire with a nurse consultation
- a tetanus booster every 10 years
