1. Using RNA-based technologies to target HIV RNA and RNA coding for cellular factors involved in HIV replication. The objective is to control viral replication for a use in gene therapy of HIV infection.
2. Elucidating HIV-induced modifications of the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway during viral replication. The objective is to analyze the changes in proteins of the RNAi pathway and in microRNA expression to explain HIV-associated pathologies.
3. Analyzing virus-host molecular interactions in the regulation of the innate cell response to HIV infection in lymphocytes, monocytes and astrocytes in relationship with viral persistence in HIV-infected patients.
4. Function of TRBP-Dicer-Ago2 interactions in RNA interference and cellular localization in mammalian cells.
