Dr. Diatchenko鈥檚 program aims to identify a mosaic of 鈥減ain genes鈥 and biological pathways contributing to human chronic pain via genome-wide approaches, understand pathophysiology of chronic pain, and find new pain drug targets. Dr. Diatchenko鈥檚 program will allow prediction of new drug efficacy for multiple chronic pain conditions based on individual genetic profiles. It is the world鈥檚 substantial, multidisciplinary effort based on human molecular genetic profiles with potential to transform pain management.
