The 91社区 Family Medicine Studies Journal

The 91社区 Family Medicine Studies (MFMS) Journal seeks to foster academic communication and interdisciplinary research among family medicine physicians, researchers and trainees. The journal covers a broad spectrum of family medicine and primary care topics and is an initiative of the Department of Family Medicine at 91社区. It provides a forum for publication from graduate students, medical students, and medical resident scholarly works.

Journal Ethics

The MFMS Journal is committed to meeting and upholding standards of ethical behaviour at all stages of the publication process. It closely follows the industry associations, such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), that set standards and provide guidelines for best practices to meet these requirements.

Open Access Publication

It is an open access online journal.

Co-editors

Amalia Issa and Machelle Wilchesky are the co-editors of the journal.

Amalia M. Issa is an internationally renowned scientist and founding Director of the Personalized Precision Medicine & Targeted Therapeutics Institute; one of the world鈥檚 first entities in this field. Dr. Issa founded and pioneered precision medicine decision science and developed innovative tools for studying decision making about precision medicine technologies. She leads teams dedicated to the integration of precision medicine into practice and health systems and to building the science of precision genomics and digital healthcare delivery. Dr. Issa serves on 4 editorial boards and is a member of the Council of Science Editors. She has served in several academic leadership roles and has more than 170 publications and presentations. She also serves in leadership positions in several professional associations and has received many awards and honors for her work over the years.

Machelle Wilchesky is an Assistant Professor within the Department of Family Medicine and Division of Geriatric Medicine at 91社区, and Scientist at the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology of the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research (Jewish General Hospital). As Director of Research at the Donald Berman Maimonides Centre for Research in Aging, she has established an independent research program that focuses on improving the care provided to vulnerable older adults (many of whom are living with dementia) residing in long-term care facilities. Dr. Wilchesky is an active member of the Canadian Primary Care trials Network (CPCTN) and is on the advisory board of the 91社区 Practice Based Research Network (PBRN).

History of the Journal

The journal was founded in 2006 by Drs Pierre Pluye, Roland Grad and Laura Shea who saw the need to promote the academic works of Family Medicine faculty and graduate students.
