Graduate Student Advisor/Supervisor
Each graduate student entering the Department will be assigned an advisor. Most students enter the graduate program based on a prior agreement to work with a particular supervisor based either on funding or mutual interest in a particular area of research. If this is not the case, a temporary advisor will be assigned to direct the new student in course selection, graduate studies matters and to assist the student in obtaining a supervisor. Once a permanent supervisor has been agreed to, it is expected that the research will be completed with that supervisor. The supervisor is responsible for directing the student throughout the program of study toward completion of the degree. Should any conflict arise in the supervisor/student relationship, it is to be brought to the attention of the Chairman by either party so that problems may be resolved immediately.
