What is an All You Care to Eat (AYCTE) meal plan and how does it work?
A:The mandatory AYCTE meal plan offers residence students unlimited access to the dining halls, with no restrictions on how often you enter, or what you eat. Simply swipe your card upon entering the dining hall and enjoy as much as you care to eat.
What food options are offered on this meal plan?
A: A variety of hot and self-serve stations are offered, and all meals are dine-in. Our daily and weekly menus feature delicious, freshly prepared,听 home cooked meals to meet the needs of our diverse population. Vegan, vegetarian and made-without-gluten food options are always available.
Will the new plan accommodate students with dietary restrictions?
A:The menus on the AYCTE meal plan pay close attention to the top allergens, and we offer students who need special dietary attention options that take these into account.
Who is the plan for?
A:This plan is mandatory for all downtown resident students living in the traditional and hotel style residences.
Are there any exemptions from the meal plan?
A: No you cannot opt out of the mandatory meal plan.
What happens to students who are not on the mandatory meal plan? Can they come and eat in the dining halls too?
A:Our dining halls are open to anyone on campus, including non-residence students, staff and faculty. Simply pay a flat meal fee for a one-time, all-you-care-to-eat visit.

Where can I eat with the Saver Meal Plan?
A:听The Saver Meal Plan is accepted at all the food locations on campus, including all the All You Care To Eat Residential Dining Halls. See the map for complete list.
What happens when my Saver Meal Plan expires at the end of the term?
A: Any unused dollars expire at the end of each term. Unused dollars are not refundable.
How can I add funds to my Saver Meal Plan?
A: If you run out of food dollars, you simply need to Top Up on the .

oneCard
What is oneCard?
A: oneCard is a versatile account that can be added to students' 91社区 ID card; this account allows them to easily access multiple services on campus, without the hassle of carrying cash and debit/credit cards. Purchases made under this account are taxable.
How do I purchase or activate a oneCard account?
A: If you are a downtown first year undergrad resident student on the mandatory meal plan, your oneCard account is already active with $500. If you are not on the meal plan, your oneCard is active with $600. This initial charge will be found on your student fees account in September.
If you are a first year student in residence on Macdonald campus, your oneCard account is already active with $400. This initial charge will be found on your student fees account in September.
For all other students:
You may also activate through the secure, the minimum buy-in is $25. Payments can be made by either Visa or MasterCard.

Where can I use oneCard?
A: Here is the list of locations where your oneCard can be used:
- At the 91社区 Campus Store
- At the All You Care to Eat Residence Dining Halls
- At the 91社区 retail food locations where oneCard is accepted, ex:听 Quesada, Subway, Starbucks, Dispatch, Vinh鈥檚, etc.

- Purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the Mac Market.
- Please note: Students on the Saver Meal Plan, your oneCard dollars will be听 deducted from your account when you purchase certain categories of taxable food items. The taxable food categories include all bottled beverages, chips, ice cream and chocolate bars when purchased individually. If these taxable items are combined and purchased with any other food item (excluding the 4 listed taxable categories), then these become tax-free under the tax-exempt听 Saver Meal Plan.
Who can get a oneCard account?
- Students living in Residence on a Mandatory Meal Plan. In addition to your meal plan, you automatically have $500 on your oneCard account that can be used at the 91社区 Campus Store, vending machines, and in the food locations on campus where the oneCard is honoured. Students not on the meal plan in quiet residences have $600.
- Students living on Macdonald Campus residences, you automatically have $400 on your oneCard to, make purchases at the 91社区 Campus Store, buy food from the dining halls, campus caf茅s, vending machines and in participating locations.
- Students on a Saver Meal Plan. In addition to the $1800 tax exempt meal plan, you can also activate your oneCard account to use at the 91社区 Campus Store, select vending machines and in the food locations on campus where the oneCard is honoured.
- Non Resident 91社区 Students. Non resident 91社区 students are free to purchase the oneCard account as well. oneCard will give them access to all the services mentioned above.
What's the difference between oneCard and the Residential Mandatory Meal Plan?
A: As a resident student, your oneCard can be used for food and drink items in retail food locations on-campus and in partnering food locations off-campus. The Mandatory Meal Plan is for use in the residence dining halls. That's why if you purchase food from one of the partnered restaurants, for example, the funds will come out of your oneCard, as this is a taxable food item.
Can my parents add funds to oneCard?
A: Yes! With your 91社区 student ID number, your parents or anyone can top up your oneCard any time by logging on to the secure . Payments can be made by either Visa or MasterCard credit cards.
Parents do not have access to other oneCard account information (balances, usage data, etc.)
What do I do if I lose oneCard?
A: You are responsible for all transactions made prior to the card being deactivated.
- First, contact 91社区 security and inform them of your lost ID card.
- Next, go to the oneCard website to deactivate your Meal Plan and your oneCard account.
- To get a new ID card, go to Service Point during office hours. Your meal plan and oneCard plan funds will be transferred onto your new ID card and activated for use immediately.

Getting a Replacement Card
A: To get a new oneCard, go to Service Point during office hours.
You will need two government-issued photo identification cards, at least one with your photo is needed to get a replacement card.
A $25 fee (tax included) applies for all replacement cards and will be billed to your Student Fees Account. The funds left on your old oneCard will automatically be transferred to your new one.

- See your printed receipt following a purchase.
Are oneCard dollars refundable?
A: Your oneCard account is active the entire time you are a 91社区 student.听oneCard dollars, with a value of $50 or more, can be refunded once you leave听the university except in cases where the balance includes promotional funds or mandatory meal plan rollovers.听If you need more information, contact posteam.shhs [at] mcgill.ca

Rules and Policies
Do students have to wear shirts and footwear in the dining units?
A: Yes, because of health department regulations.
Is smoking permitted?
A: Smoking is not permitted in any of the university dining units or buildings. Please note that in Quebec, it is now the law that you are not permitted to smoke within a 9 meter radius (approx. 30 ft) of any entrance door of any building.
Are any animals allowed in the food court?
A: No, the only animals allowed are service dogs.
Is alcohol permitted in the dining areas?
A: No, alcoholic beverages cannot be brought into a university-dining unit nor can they be purchased as a meal plan choice.

A: Your Mandatory Residential Meal Plan will be transferred with you when you move to another residence associated with the Mandatory Residential Meal Plan.

How does Dining Services keep track of meal plans dollars?
How do you decide how much to charge for food sold in the dining halls?
A: 91社区 Food and Dining Services is a self-financing unit with the mandate to break even at the end of the fiscal year. In addition, we are a mixed model, which means that we run self-operated units as well as units managed by a food provider and as well, some of our retail locations are run by tenants. In order to cover our expenses and to ensure that we are a sustainable unit, we operate much like a restaurant. Our price and cost structures are such that approximately 38% is allocated to food cost; other fixed and variable costs cover the balance.
Is there a menu to let me know what is being served on a particular day?
A: Yes!听 You can also view the daily menus on our dining hall page or instagram account.
What can I do if I have an issue or concern with the services offered at a particular location?
A: We encourage you to let us know how we are doing! For matters that need immediate attention, please contact the dining room manager or supervisor.

Does the dining service hire students? How can I find out about a job?
A: Yes. The Dining Services as well as the different caf茅s on campus hire students each semester to work. You must have related work experience in order to be considered. To find out more information about available positions, ask any manager of the food facilities. Job possibilities include, cashier or checker, food production and service, dishwasher or general work and maintenance.
