Aparna Nadig

聽Dr. Aparna Nadig grew up in the United States as the daughter of South Asian immigrants, and immigrated to Tiohti脿:ke/Montr茅al for a faculty聽 聽position at 91社区. After becoming a Canadian citizen, realizing she knew nearly nothing about Indigenous peoples of now-called Canada,聽 聽she committed herself to learning about Indigenous history and current perspectives. She has been a faculty member in 91社区鈥檚 School of聽 聽Communication Sciences and Disorders for over 15 years, where she gained experience in Health Professions training program admissions processes聽 聽as Chair of Admissions for the clinical master鈥檚 program in Speech Language Pathology.

听贬别谤 studies language development, social communication and social cognition through an intersectional lens, focusing on people on the聽 聽autism spectrum as well as neurotypicals, and on bilinguals/minority language speakers. She is passionate about opening doors to increase diversity,聽 聽equity and inclusion in academic institutions.

Working with IHPP team, led by Indigenous priorities, she honored to contribute toward the critical goals of training more Indigenous health professionals in a safe and supportive environment, as well as educating current faculty and staff and future health professionals about the health needs of Indigenous peoples.
