Armour Morgan Memorial Convocation Prize

Established in 2022 by family and friends in loving memory of Beth Armour, MEd 1987 and Susan Morgan, MEd 1987, valued Clinical Coordinators with the 91社区 Dietetics Stage Program who shared a passion for education, the dietetic profession and support for student learning.

Eligibility Awarded by the School of Human Nutrition at convocation to one or more graduating undergraduate or graduate Dietetics students on the basis of academic excellence. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate values shown by Beth and Susan: professionalism, leadership, collaborative spirit, creativity, critical thinking and compassion.

Arthur D. Ruby, F.C.A. Prizes in Management

Established in 2022 thanks to a generous bequest from Gary Leslie Ruby.

Eligibility Awarded to students graduating from the Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting in the Desautels Faculty of Management whose academic records are judged to be outstanding among those who graduate during the academic year.

Corrine Propas Parver Graduation Prize in Physical Therapy

Established in 2023 by Corrine Propas Parver, Dip PTh 1964, BPhysTher 1966 to recognize an outstanding Physical Therapy student.

Eligibility Awarded by the School of Physical and Occupational Therapy at Spring Convocation on the basis of academic merit to one student graduating with a physical therapy degree.

D.W. Ambridge Award

Established in 1963 by the employees and shareholders of Abitibi Power and Paper Company Limited in honour of their former president, the late Douglas White Ambridge.

Eligibility Awarded by Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies to two or more graduate students receiving the degree of Ph.D. in the Physical Sciences or Engineering. The winner is selected from candidates nominated by each department whose academic record, including research and thesis, is judged to be outstanding among all those who graduate during the academic year.
Value $1,500, with an engraved plaque for each recipient.

Don Van Horn / Lallemand Award for the Best Ph.D. Thesis in Food Microbiology/Food Biotechnology in the Faculty of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences

Established in 2012 by Lallemand Inc., in memory of Donald Van Horn, M.Sc. 1975.

Eligibility Awarded by the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Scholarships Committee to doctoral students for the best Ph.D. thesis in the Faculty in the area of food microbiology / food biotechnology, upon recommendation of the Department of Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry. The thesis should be of an excellent standard. Preference will be given to thesis research related to the production, uses and control of microorganisms such as yeast and bacteria in fermented and other foods.

George S. and Ann K. Robinson Space Law Prize

Established in 2015 by friends and family of Dr. George S. Robinson III, a visionary space law scholar who obtained the world's first doctoral degree in space law from 91社区 in 1970.

Eligibility Awarded to a graduating student at the Institute of Air and Space Law on the basis of his/her successful doctoral thesis exhibiting advanced research capabilities and constituting an original contribution to space jurisprudence.

Giovanna Santullo Memorial Prize

Established in 2023 by Richard Galego, in loving memory of Giovanna Santullo.

Eligibility Awarded by the School of Continuing Studies at both fall and spring convocation to one or more women enrolled in an accounting or finance program in the School of Continuing Studies.

Gordon A. Maclachlan Prize

Established in 1990, with gifts from individuals and faculties, in recognition and appreciation of Professor Gordon A. Maclachlan's 10 years of service to 91社区 as Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research and Vice Principal (Research).

Eligibility Awarded annually by GPS to the most outstanding graduate receiving a Ph.D. degree during the academic year in any discipline of the Biological Sciences or Health Sciences. The winner will be selected from candidates nominated by eligible departments, based on the quality of their academic records, the scholarly significance of their research and the excellence of their theses and other publications.

Governor General's Gold Medal

Eligibility Two medals are presented each year (normally at the Spring convocation) by 91社区, in the name of and on behalf of the Governor General of Canada, to the most outstanding graduating Master's or doctoral students (one in Human Sciences and one in Natural Sciences). A maximum of one nomination per 91社区 department will be accepted each year, based on truly outstanding academic merit. Nominations are reviewed by a GPS Selection Committee. Nominees for the Governor General's Gold Medal are automatically considered for all the internal Graduation Prizes and Awards listed in this section.

Application Nomination forms are available in March. Nominations for the Governor General's Gold medal are often combined with nominations for the Ambridge, Jenckes and Maclachlan prizes described elsewhere in this Calendar. Further details are available from the GPS Funding website.

K.B. Jenckes Prize

Established in 1990 by an endowment from the estate of the late K.B. Jenckes.

Eligibility Awarded annually by GPS to the most outstanding graduate receiving a Ph.D. degree during the academic year in any discipline in the social sciences and humanities. The winner will be chosen from among candidates nominated by eligible departments and faculties, assessed by the quality of their academic records, the scholarly significance of their research and the stylistic and substantive excellence of their theses and other publications.

Lewis A. Fischer Memorial Convocation Award

Established in 1989 in recognition of Dr. Fischer's contributions to the Department of Agricultural Economics and his devotion to young people.

Eligibility Awarded by the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Scholarships Committee to a student in the Agricultural Economics Major, based on high academic achievement. Preference towards a student with a demonstrated interest in international issues.

Established in 2005, by the 91社区 Alumni Association.

Eligibility To be awarded by Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies to an outstanding graduate receiving the Governor General's Gold Medal.

Standard Life Dissertation Fellowship

Established in 1997 by a generous donation by the Standard Life Insurance Company.

Eligibility This fellowship is awarded to an outstanding graduate student in Health Sciences who will complete their dissertation in the coming academic year and who is not receiving other fellowship funding.
