The Henry K.M. de Kuyper Education Centre (shortly – the DeK) is a hub for general surgery medical students, residents, and fellows creating educational media and conducting research in medical education; and also is a place for the promotion of innovation, creativity, and professional productivity in medical education. The Centre exists since 2011 on private funding through the . It is affiliated with the Steinberg-Bernstein Centre for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) and Innovation (MGH, MUHC) where cutting-edge surgical education and recovery research.
The DeK Centre is located at the Montreal General Hospital (MGH, MUHC), D6-257. It is equipped with several powerful MAC desktops with a range of Apple software, video-editing software and equipment; video library of local MIS surgical procedures and educational media; conference room and sound-proof cubicle (for private calls, non-disturbed work, recordings, etc). Some educational activities (webinars, workshops, group worksÌýetc.) are regularly held in the Centre.ÌýWe can offer after-hours access to regular users, and it is possible to book this conference room for any time any day a week.
We have over 1100 of MIS surgical videos, both VHS and DVD. Each researcher gets an individual login access on any computer with a substantial space for storage.
