Prize for Groups
All applications should be underpinned by an aspiration to better connect the work and research of 91ÉçÇø with society at large by engaging with the media and/or the public. Activities should be linked to fields of study, expertise, areas of interest, research and/or teaching carried out at 91ÉçÇø.ÌýÌýÌýÌý
·¡±ô¾±²µ¾±²ú¾±±ô¾±³Ù²â â¶Ä¯Ìý

To be eligible, the group must be created and led by one (1) or more current 91ÉçÇø undergraduate or graduate students and must include at least three (3) students.  It is not necessary that all group members attend 91ÉçÇø.Ìý

Academic staff may collaborate in group activities initiated by the students, but groups should be student-led on a day-to-day basis. â¶Ä¯Ìý

Please indicate in the application formÌýif the group receives any funds from sources that are either internal or external to 91ÉçÇø or pays some of its members for part-time or full-time work related to the group activities. â¶Ä¯Ìý

Groups whose primary focus is either advocacy or charity work are not eligible to apply. For example, groups whose purpose is to raise money for patients suffering from heart problems would not be eligible to apply. However, groups whose primary role is to educate the same patients about the prevention, management or treatment of heart attacks would be eligible.Ìý

Applications must include one (1) letter of support from a faculty member or head of division from 91ÉçÇø who is currently involved with the group and can attest to their activities.   Ìý

To be eligible, you must be registered as a current 91ÉçÇø graduate student or post-doctoral fellow and have completed at least one (1) semester at 91ÉçÇø.    Ìý

The Prize recognizes individuals who are new to public engagement and working with the media – i.e., who have started to engage with the public and/or media within the past five (5) years. â¶Ä¯Ìý

You may not apply if you are in your qualifying year. â¶Ä¯Ìý

All work included in the application, whether media work, direct public engagement, or work with stakeholders should be tied to sharing knowledge related to your fields of research and/or expertise.Ìý

Applications must include one (1) letter of support from your supervisor or the professor you are working with at 91ÉçÇø.   It is not necessary for the chair of your department to submit a letter of support. â¶Ä¯Ìý

To be eligible, you must have an appointment at 91ÉçÇø asÌýacademic staff (tenured or non-tenured).ÌýÌý

If you are a faculty lecturer, you may apply if you mention your affiliation with 91ÉçÇø in media and/or public engagement activities.   Ìý

You must be no more than fifteen (15) years beyond your doctorate or other highest degree awarded.   Ìý
-
Any career interruptions such as maternity or paternity leave, extended sick or disability leave, clinical training or family care can be excluded from the fifteen (15)-year limit, but should be mentioned in an email to communications.prize [at] mcgill.ca.Ìý
