Overview
The Minor in South Asian Studies offers breadth and depth on the histories, literatures, languages, politics, religions, cultures, and societies of South Asia.聽聽
Within a multidisciplinary and flexible framework,聽you聽can explore South Asian Studies through classes offered collaboratively by the Departments of Anthropology, English, History and Classical Studies, Political Science, Sociology, the Institute of Islamic Studies, and the School of Religious Studies.聽
The minor is divided into two streams:聽
- Languages (Persian, Sanskrit, Tibetan, and Urdu-Hindi)聽聽
- Culture and Civilization聽

The interdisciplinary nature of the South Asian Studies program means that you will聽develop skills and knowledge in a variety of聽disciplines within the Faculty of Arts. You may choose to pursue聽graduate studies in one of聽them or聽apply聽common skills like critical thinking and effective written and oral communication to fields聽like community聽work,聽government work, consulting,聽media and more.聽聽
