LILY HP NGUYEN, MD, MSc, MHPE, FRCSC, is an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (OTL-HNS), attending staff at the Montreal Children's Hospital, and an Associate Member of the Institute of Health Sciences Education. She obtained her residency and her Master's of Science degree at 91社区, and completed her Clinical Fellowship at the University of Toronto. Dr. Nguyen completed her Master's in Health Professions Education at the University of Illinois in Chicago, was the 2013 recipient of the Jonathan Campbell Meakins & Family Memorial Fellowship, and the 2014 recipient of the Canadian Association for Medical Association's Certificate of Merit. Lastly, she is involved in many post- and undergraduate committees at both the local and national level.
Current Research Interests: Dr. Nguyen鈥檚 research in Medical Education has two main focuses: 1) effective uses of simulation-based medical education for technical and non-technical skill development, and 2) unintended consequences of assessment systems. For the latter, Dr. Nguyen is interested in how current systems of assessment (i.e. residency selection processes) can have unanticipated downstream effects, both positive and negative, on a variety of potential stakeholders, and how these consequences can undermine the purposes of assessment.
