The Loyola Convalescent Home was founded in 1913 by members of the Loyola Literary and Art Club. At first it was able to accept only 12 patients. It moved to a larger residence on St Marc street in 1929 where it could admit 33 patients. In 1933, it moved again to a newly-constructed building on Hudson Street north of Mount Royal, where it had over 100 beds. The new building was funded by local piano manufacturer Sir Charles Lindsay and was renamed the Montreal Convalescent Hospital. In 2008, this merged with the Institut de R茅adaption de Montr茅al (founded in 1949 by Dr. Gustave Gingras) to form the Rehabilitation Institute Gingras-Lindsay de Montr茅al.
