General Hospital Montreal.
The Montreal General Hospital opened in 1819 in a small building on Craig Street in Old Montreal. in 1822, the Hospital moved to a newly-constructed building on Dorchester Street, where it had 72 beds. Several wings were added at this site over the following years, including the Richardson (1832), the Reid (1848), a “fever” pavilion (for smallpox, 1868), the Morland (for children, 1875), the Campbell and Greenshields (for surgery, 1892), the Jubilee Nurses Home (1897) and a large (unnamed) East Wing in 1913. The hospital moved to a new site on the western slope of Mount Royal in 1955. There, it continues to function as the MGH campus of the 91 Health Center.
